RAKAN KOREA : PLACES TO GO DURING AUTUMN IN SOUTH KOREA

The season now in Korea is probably summer and the weather is almost like in Malaysia. Hot sunny like in Malaysia. So in this post I will write about autumn in Korea since we don't have autumn in Malaysia. I went to Korea on my last trip during autumn and it's a very pleasant trip even it's almost winter but I still got to see some maple tree!

There are few places that suggested to go during autumn season in Korea. If you planning to go on autumn season, don't forget to add below places in your itinerary! Let's get started!

1. Seoraksan National Park

The mountain was named Seorak ('Seol' meaning 'snow' and 'Ak' meaning 'big mountain') because the snow would not melt for a long time keeping the rocks in a permanent state of white. When it comes to autumn destinations, the first mountain that comes to mind for most is Seoraksan Mountain. A feast for the eyes throughout the year, rich colors make Seoraksan a main attraction in autumn. There are plenty of hiking trails along the mountainside.

Location : Buk-myeon, Inje-gun, Gangwon-do

2. Jirisan National Park

Beloved in Korea, Jirisan Mountain is rugged in form and impressive in scale. During peak foliage season in late October, the slopes blaze with brilliant colors in the rocky landscape, while Piagol Valley and Baemsagol Valley offer great hiking trails. Jirisan also extends across three provinces (Jeollanam-do, Jeollabukm-do, Gyeongsangnam-do), and many choose to go on overnight hiking trips to fully appreciate the mountain.

Location : 320-2, Jirisan-daero, Sancheong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do

3. Namiseom Island

Namiseom Island is 63 km away from Seoul in the direction of Chuncheon, and is famous for its beautiful tree lined roads. The island is 30 minutes away from Chuncheon and an hour away from the suburbs of Seoul. Since it is not far from Seoul, many couples and families come to visit. Many people came here during autumn because the sight is worth to pay a visit.

Location : 1, Namisum-gil, Namsan-myeon, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do

4. Namsan Park

As you walk up from Namdaemun Market to Namsan Mountain, you will also find a number of notable sites such as the Goethe-Institut Korea, Namsan Library, and Namsan Botanical Garden. Take the walking path from Namsan Library to the mountain for about 10 minutes, and you will arrive at the popular N Seoul Tower. The N Seoul Tower observatory is a must-visit attraction for a unique view of fall foliage in Seoul. The observatory has a glass façade and offers a panoramic view of the city. As the sun sets, sit at the café with a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the dramatic cityscape from the tower.

Location: Huam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul

5. Deoksugung Palace

Also known as ‘Jeongdong-gil road,’ Deoksugung Doldam-gil (Deoksugung Stone Wall Road) is the road along Deoksugung Palace’s stone wall and is a popular place for romantic strolls. In the fall, yellow ginkgo leaves add to the romantic ambience. This elegant road is about 900 meters long and stretches from Deoksugung Palace by Seoul City Hall to Jeongdong Theater. There are numerous cultural sites as well as traditional and modern structures along the way that make the trip all the more worthwhile.

Location: 5-1, Jeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul

So that wrapped up my post today! Make sure to go all the place above during your trip to Korea in autumn. Take more photos of them to keep as memories! Thank you so much for reading and till next time.

Auraji River Auraji is the name of a lake that Jeongseon Arirang originated. The area has long been famous for its beautiful, clean mountains and rivers. Its name is derived from the Korean word ‘어우러지다 eoureojida,’ meaning ‘to meet’ as the waters of Pyeongchang and Samcheok unite in this area. Part of the upper stream of Namhangang River, Auraji was a famous starting point of log rafts transporting timber to Hanyang, the original name of Seoul. The lyrics of Jeongseon Arirang reveal the sadness and longing of a woman awaiting her husband who left for business to a far-away place or left to transport timber. Today, numerous tourists visit Auraji to enjoy its great scenic views or to see the symbol of a maid who, gazing into the river, seems to be waiting for her lover to return.

Samtan Art Mine

Samtan Art Mine is a cultural art complex, transformed from an abandoned mine at the foot of Hambaeksan Mountain, the main production area of stone coal in Korea. The name ‘Samtan’ refers to Samcheok Tanjwa, one of the major coal mines in Korea, and ‘Art Mine’ plays on the history of the coal mine. There are many cultural art spaces throughout the nation, but Samtan Art Mine attracts visitors for being located inside an actual mine site. Opened in 1964 as a industrial establishment, the mine operated until October 2001. Samtan Art Mine draws even deeper artistic meaning due to this poignant history. Place named <Venus from Bubble> was a shooting location of famous drama in 2016, ˹Descendants of the Sun˼. In episode 12, Agus kidnapped Dr. Kang to his hideout and blackmailed her to break up with captain Yoo. This scene was selected as one of the iconic scene in ˹Descendants of the Sun˼. This place used to be a shower room for miners last time and artists got an inspiration to link <Venus from Bubble> to shower room. As we watched in a drama, the combination of old shower room and Venus statue create a unique vibe and featured Agus’s hideout
place very well.

Address :1445-44, Hambaeksan-ro, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do

That's all for my post for Jeongseon county! Hope you enjoy and thank you for reading!

RAKAN KOREA : GAPYEONG CITY TOUR

Hola guys! In this post I will be sharing about the Gapyeong City Bus where you can tour Gapyeong easily. You can go to the most famous island that attracted many tourists to pay a visit which is Nami Island by the city bus tour. I actually took this bus to Nami Island when I was at Seoul last year so I'm glad that I got to share my experience to others. Let's get started!

In South Korea, almost every provinces have they own city bus tour which tourists can easily tour around province of their choice! City tour bus is a very great deal because you can freely hop on and off wherever the stop you want. You can do some research before going to any province in South Korea.

For Gapyeong City Bus tour, they provide 2 courses; Course A and Course B which both have different tourist attractions. You can choose which route you want and not necessary to go to all the attractions on the course you choose. You only have to pay one time for the bus ticket and present it every time you hop on. Ticket can be purchased from the bus driver upon boarding and admission fee to tourist site is not included.

Course A

Course B

I took subway all the way from Hongdae stn to Gapyeong stn (Gyeongchun line). When you out from the station, there will be a bus stop. The tour bus will pick up at the bus stop. I followed the course A since I took city bus from Gapyeong stn. Followed as in the course, they will stop at Jaraseom Island then to Gapyeong Rail Bike then only to Nami Island.
#TIPS: some bus driver will skip first and second places and straight to Nami Island. If you want to go, please let the bus driver know when they ask ^^

When the bus reached Nami Island, you actually reached the Nami Island ferry dock only. You need to buy ticket at the counter and take the ferry to Nami Island or you can take the zip wire to Nami Island as well.
#TIPS: zip wire is slightly expensive but it's a very great experience, I definitely going to try it once!
#TIPS: the entrance fee include a round-ferry ticket, usage fee, and additional tax
#TIPS: if you planned to go other place, manage your time at Nami Island because it will took you whole day to stroll there

After strolling at Nami Island, I took the ferry back to ferry dock and hop on the city bus to Petite France. You will need to buy the entrance ticket at the counter as well.I stroll around and I managed to watch a puppet play and it's a fresh thing for me because I never watch before. After the show, we took city bus back to Gapyeong stn and back to Hongdae.
I will link my previous post below! *

That's all for my post today. Hope it helps and thanks for reading! See you in the next post!
